Umar Aliyu, the coach of the Kano State Wrestling Team, expressed immense pride in the athlete's remarkable achievement.  "We are incredibly proud of Khadijat for bringing home Kano's first gold medal at this prestigious competition. Her hard work, determination, and skill have paid off," Aliyu said.  "This victory is a testament to the dedication of our athletes and the support of the coaching staff." By Hananeel Jackson  Bayelsa State government says it is pleased with the continuous progress of the Governor's National Wrestling Classics and 3rd Gov Douye Diri wrestling championship in the last three editions. Governor Douye Diri made this known at the opening ceremony of the 3rd Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital. Governor Diri who was represented by his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhurdjakpo, said the hosting of the championship was not an accident that Bayelsa has dominance in wrestling which started from the old Rivers State. The governor noted that Bayelsan wrestlers made Rivers State proud at the global stage, the likes of Jackson Bidei, Victor Kodei, Macauley Appah and Irigha Eferebo,stating that the government uses sports as a tool for crime control. NTTF South South Rep Attributes Lack of Facilities as Reason Behind Table Tennis Slow Progress.

By Hananeel Jackson   The South South zonal representative in the board of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, Mr. Ama-ebi Ebikpolade Stow has attributed lack of facilities as the reason behind the slow progress of Table Tennis in the zone. Mr. Ebikpolade made this known during a live interaction with "Sport Tribe Podcast" at the newly constructed Fortress at Oxbow-Lake in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. He said when he assumed office as chairman of the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association that he and his vice chairman, Mr. Ranani Igrubia sat and identified key areas of improvement and realized that lack of facility was a major problem bedeviling table tennis in the state. Honourable Chief Ayibanegiyefa Egba in a statement sign by the LOC Chairman Hon. Munasue Markbere and the Secretary Comrade Clement Monovie Lanny the tournament's aim is to bring together young talents from across the communities, fostering not only their soccer skills but also encouraging teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. 800 Athletes, Coaches and Officials to Participate in 3rd Gov Diri National Wrestling Classics

By Hananeel Jackson Over seven hundred and fifty athletes and coaches from the thirty six states of the federation will jostle for glory in the 3rd Governor Douye Diri Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Dr. Daniel Igali gave the hint at the press conference held in Yenagoa ahead of the championship. He said the championship would commence from the 3rd through 10th of November, 2024 while the wrestling date will start from the 5th through the 9th of next month, stating that the Gov Douye Diri Wrestling Classics remains the longest wrestling tourney in the country. The commissioner explained that the federation has received over twenty states who have indicated interest with both military and paramilitary organizations and also, over fifteen clubs have so far shown concern for this year's championship.
