HON. SAMUEL BUNAS TO HOST YENAGOA CITY FOOTBALL ACADEMY AHEAD OF 8-NATION U-14 TOURNAMENT:

As part of preparations for the forthcoming 8-Nation U-14 Football Tournament in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Hon. Chief Samuel Michael Bunas will host players and officials of Yenagoa City Football Academy (YCFA) at his office in Yenagoa on Tuesday, 21st July, 2026.


The tournament, organised by CEADER Football Academy, will feature young football talents from eight nations and is aimed at promoting youth football development across Africa.


Hon. Samuel Bunas, the flag bearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Yenagoa Constituency I in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, is widely recognised for his unwavering commitment to grassroots development. 

Over the years, he has consistently supported Yenagoa City Football Academy and several other youth-focused initiatives across Bayelsa State.


Speaking ahead of the courtesy visit, the President of Yenagoa City Football Academy, Coach Ada Nathan Gwegwe, said the meeting would provide an opportunity for the players and officials to personally appreciate Hon. Bunas for his continuous support and encouragement.
According to Coach Gwegwe:


"Hon. Samuel Bunas is a true lover of grassroots football and has always stood by Yenagoa City Football Academy whenever we have called on him. As an academy, it is only fitting that we pay him a courtesy visit to express our gratitude for his invaluable support towards the growth of football in our state. 

When someone believes in and supports your vision, it is only right to show appreciation."


Coach Gwegwe further revealed that he had previously coordinated grassroots football competitions sponsored by Hon. Bunas in Onopa, Yenagoa Local Government Area, describing the aspirant as a passionate supporter of your empowerment through sports.

The Academy reaffirmed its appreciation to Hon. Samuel Bunas for his steadfast commitment to youth development and grassroots sports, noting that his support continues to inspire young footballers to pursue excellence both on and off the pitch.

The courtesy visit is expected to further strengthen the relationship between Hon. Bunas and Yenagoa City Football Academy as the team prepares to represent Bayelsa State at the prestigious international youth football tournament.

‎Yenagoa Agog for Football Scouting Programme‎

‎Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital will be agog from Wednesday, December 10, 2025 as the state hosts an international football scouting programme. ‎ ‎A statement signed by the Deputy Director General of the Prosperity Cup, Mr Perela Aboro stated that the scouting programme, scheduled for Wednesday, 10th and Thursday, 11th December, will hold at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.  ‎ ‎The programme is a collaboration between the state F.A. and the organizers of the Prosperity Cup and powered by the Bayelsa State Ministry of Sports Development. ‎ ‎The statement further stated that the ultimate purpose of the scouting programme is to provide a platform for young, talented footballers to play for youth teams in the United Kingdom. ‎ ‎According to the statement, "The programme is a collaboration between the Bayelsa State Ministry of Sports Development, the State Football Association, and organisers of the Prosperity Cup. ‎ ‎"The scouting programme is aimed...
