SOME RESIDENTS IN OBOGORO COMMUNITY RAISE ALARM OVER HARSSMENT OF CONTRACTOR AT EROSION SITE IN OBOGORO.


Residents in Obogoro Community, in Bayelsa State have raised alarm over the frequent harassment and stoping of the contractor working at the erosion site in the Community saying that the incident have led to a temporal stoppage of work and delay in the on-going project.


A Resident who don't want his name to be mentioned described the incident as disturbing saying that if the contractor is not allowed to complete their job, it's the Landlords that are at risk of losing their properties.

Speaking with News men on Monday Mr. Etim Effiong, who has lost over 10 plot of land said that he is very worried about the situation, adding that  the community leaders should do everything in their power to address the ugly sutiation. 

He also called on the Ministry of Environment who is in charge of the project to redouble its efforts as the supervising ministry on behalf of the Bayelsa State Government.


We also contacted the  convener of the #Save Obogoro Community From Erosion Group Mr. Ada Gwegwe who said

"First let me congratulate His Exellency Senator Douye Diri and His Deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for thier victory in the just concluded Governeship Election in Bayelsa State."

"Let me also thank the Governor for the release of funds to the contractor of the project, 
If what you are asking me is true then those persons are enemy of the state and the Community and should be treated as such". He said 


"Let me used this opportunity to also call on the Bayelsa State Government as a matter of urgency to address this issue if fund out to be true." He added
