As Organizers Name him Tournament Ambassador
Bayelsa's soccer prodigy, Victory Benaingba has joined other notable football stakeholders to endorse the forthcoming Bayelsa Kids Cup.
Victory Benaingba, who grew through the ranks where he was spotted and nurtured by Dream Boys Football Academy of Odi, said he was impressed with the vision of the competition, and will throw his weight behind it.
The former Bayelsa United talisman who now plies his trade with Racing Club Genk in the Belgian Pro League, also praised the organising committee led by veteran grassroot football Coach, Ada Gwegwe, for initiating the tournament several years ago, admitting that tye competition will be a stepping stone for kids who already have their sights on playing football at the highest level.
Benaingba while endorsing the competition shortly after a meeting with the organizing committee in Yenagoa on Sunday, called on the participating teams to be focused and see the competition as an avenue to develop themselves into the game, and not to focus directly on the trophy.
He also appreciated the organizing committee for naming him as the Tournament Ambassador, assuring that he will do his best to encourage the best performing kids in tge competition.
Eight teams cutting across the local government areas will slug it out at the 7th edition of the Bayelsa Kids Cup, with the opening ceremony/fixture slated for Saturday at 9am, at the B.D.G.S School field, with the teams grouped into two.
According to the organising committee, the preliminary round robin stage will produce four teams for the semi finals and then the finals which has been fixed for May 27th, to commemorate the Children's Day.
