The Director General of Prosperity Cup Mr. Ono Kelvin Akpe have reflected on success of the recently concluded Gov. Diri Wrestling Classic at the Indoor Hall of the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.


He made this known during an exclusive interview with Sports Tribe Podcast Crew immediately after closing ceremony of the tournament.

When asked on how he feels after hosting a huge competition as successful as this?

Mr. Akpe said that "It is a new and exciting experience for me, an experience that will give me a wider vision in sports management in all sphere. With this development, we can expect a better Prosperity Cup in the coming weeks".


"It's a great one for Bayelsa and Nigerian Wrestling because outstanding wrestlers have been identified. We believe that they'll go and make us proud when they go out to represent the country". He said.

I want to thank His Excellency the Governor Senator Douye Diri for his continuous support towards Wrestling, Football, Basketball and other sports.

Special Thanks to The Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhurdjakpo for his support towards sports in the state. 


Mr. Akpe used the opportunity to thank the The Controller General Nigerian Customs Adewale Adeniyi, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Musa Christopher, represented by Commander Joint Task Force JTF South South Zone, Rear Admirala John Okeke, The President Nigeria Wrestling Federation and Commissioner for Sports Development Hon. Daniel Igali, Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association Mr. Ama-Ebi Stow and every sponsor that have made the competition a huge success.

The 3rd edition of the Gov' Douye Diri Wrestling Classic and 13th National Wrestling Competition came to an end on Saturday with Bayelsa State winning the overall price.
