NDDC SPORTS FESTIVAL: WRESTLING, BOXING AND SWIMMING Showcasing Talents.‎

‎ Ahead of the forthcoming Niger Delta Development Commission Sports Festival, associations braces off in local government trials in search of more athletes that will form the state delegate to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
‎
‎Trails were held in Swimming, Boxing, and football.
‎
‎Wrestlers also took to the mat, were young and vibrant athletes showcased themselves, and announced their readiness to feature at the games.

‎Technical Adviser on Sports Development, Hon. Alaowei Opukeme, expressed delight with their turn out and enthusiasm of the athletes, commended the coaches and sporting associations for their dedication, adding that with what he had seen, Bayelsa will mount the podium at the end of the games.
‎
‎He said, "Am delighted with what am seeing here. I have been to the swimming event, and I just witnessed that of boxing and wrestling. Am proud of the athletes, and I can see their commitment. Everyone wants to go to Uyo, and that's a good spirit. I believe that Bayelsa will give a good outing in Uyo."

‎Also speaking, young swimmer, Richman Bedford who spoke is his local dialect, said he was determined to make the list and win a medal at the games.
‎
‎He said, "a swimming coach came to my school and asked anyone who can swim to come out for training and I was encouraged to do so.
‎
‎"I swam and came out first and also came first for the second time. I was told by the coach that my name will be shortlisted for the local government trials."

‎"I have also come first for this trials! I am ever ready to become first anytime I am called upon to swim."
‎
‎The trials continues today in other sporting events

‎Prosperity Cup Organizers to Commence Sale of Registration Forms ‎

‎...Prize Money Increased to N30m in Celebration of 30th Anniversary of Bayelsa  ‎ ‎Organizers of Nigeria's biggest grassroots football tournament, the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup, say they have concluded plans for the sale of registration forms for Season eight of the competition. ‎ ‎Director General of the tournament, Mr. Ono Akpe in a statement on behalf of the Central Organizing Committee, COC, noted that this year's edition would witness some innovations.  ‎ ‎According to him, the sale of registration forms will commence from the 1st of December through the 15th of January, 2026 while the tournament will kick-off on the 13th of February, 2026 as part of the activities to celebrate the governor's sixth year in office.  ‎ ‎The statement noted that Season Eight would be a special edition to celebrate the 30 years anniversary of Bayelsa State with a special commemorative trophy, which has been specially designed and orde...

Eguavoen, Fuludu, lead NFF team to Yenagoa for 3rd Prosperity Cup Coaching Clinic.

The Organizers of Nigeria's largest and most prestigious grassroots football showpiece, the prosperity cup in Bayelsa State are putting a week coaching clinic together to update and sharpen the technical abilities of coaches participating in this year's edition of the competition. The coaching clinic, which will be conducted by seasoned football experts begins on Monday, 3rd to 7th of March, 2025 at the NUJ Press Centre, Ekeki, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. Disclosing this to newsmen in Yenagoa, the Director General of the Prosperity cup Central Organizing Committee, Mr.Ono Akpe explained that the event, which is the first of two coaching clinics that will hold in course of this year's football fiesta, will have fifty coaches in attendance.
