Alhaji Musa Saidu Joins Bayelsa at 30 Celebration, Reaffirms Commitment to Peaceful Coexistence;

YENAGOA, BAYELSA STATE — The National Chairman of the Arewa Initiative for Peaceful Coexistence in Southern Nigeria, Alhaji Musa Saidu, was among the distinguished personalities who graced the Day One activities of the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Creation of Bayelsa State at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, on Monday, September 28, 2026.

The anniversary celebration, which marks three decades of Bayelsa State’s existence, commenced with a colourful traditional “Ogele” procession, bringing together government officials, sports personalities, dignitaries, stakeholders and residents in a symbolic celebration of the state’s rich cultural heritage and journey over the past 30 years.


The procession led participants to the Samson Siasia Stadium, where a series of sporting and commemorative activities took place as part of the anniversary programme. The sporting events included a novelty football encounter involving members of the state’s political leadership, particularly representatives of the Executive and Legislative arms of government.

Alhaji Musa Saidu’s presence at the celebration further underscored the importance of peace, unity, friendship and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, particularly between communities and people from different ethnic and regional backgrounds living across Southern Nigeria.


His participation also reflected the spirit of inclusiveness that characterised the anniversary activities, as dignitaries from different parts of the country converged in Yenagoa to celebrate Bayelsa State and its people.

Among the prominent personalities present at the event were His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State; His Excellency, Dr. Peter Akpe, Deputy Governor of the State; the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly; members of the State Executive Council; lawmakers; traditional and community leaders; sports personalities; and other dignitaries from across Nigeria.


The gathering at the Samson Siasia Stadium provided an opportunity for leaders and citizens to put aside political and ethnic differences and celebrate the shared values of friendship, unity and peaceful coexistence.

For Alhaji Musa Saidu, whose organisation advocates peaceful relationships and harmonious coexistence between people of different backgrounds in Southern Nigeria, the occasion offered another platform to demonstrate that unity remains essential to the progress, stability and development of Nigeria.

The Day One activities form part of a broader programme of events organised to commemorate Bayelsa State’s 30 years of existence. According to the announced programme, the anniversary celebrations include cultural, sporting, musical and intellectual activities designed to reflect on the state’s journey while celebrating its people, heritage and achievements. 

As Bayelsa celebrates three decades, the presence of Alhaji Musa Saidu among the dignitaries serves as a reminder that the story of Nigeria’s development is strengthened when citizens from different regions and backgrounds come together in peace, mutual respect and solidarity.
